Dr. Caitlin Samples

Biography

Caitlin E. Samples is a Lecturer at the Stanford Language Center, specializing in Spanish and Hispanic linguistics. She holds a Master’s degree in Spanish from Baylor University and is currently ABD in Hispanic linguistics at the University of Georgia. Her research focuses on heritage language acquisition, exploring the interfaces of syntax, morphology, and semantics. Notably, her current projects investigate the use of possessive structures among second-language learners, as well as the employment of gender-inclusive language by Twitter users in Spanish. Additionally, she has previously taught first- and second-year Spanish courses at the University of Georgia and continues to engage students in cultural practices through her teaching. Her professional affiliations include memberships in the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) and the Asociación Mexicana de Lingüística Aplicada. Caitlin is actively involved in exploring trends in language use within Hispanic populations, focusing on cultural reflections and historical contexts. She is committed to fostering inclusive language practices and enhancing students’ linguistic proficiency through innovative pedagogical approaches.
