Dr. Carlos Gomez Garibello

Biography

Carlos Gomez-Garibello, PhD, is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Health Sciences Education and an Associate Member of the Department of Surgery at McGill University. He obtained his doctoral degree in Educational Psychology. His research interests focus on the development of workplace-based assessment methods at the postgraduate level, the creation of tests aimed at assessing clinical knowledge and judgment, and the measurement and integration of clinical skills and judgment in the context of surgery. His work is informed by respected principles and conceptual frameworks in educational practice research. Currently, he serves as the Faculty Lead for Assessment in Postgraduate Medical Education at McGill University, providing crucial support to residency programs in advancing assessment methods. Additionally, he is the co-chair of the Surgical Education Group within the Department of Surgery at McGill University.
