Dr. Caroline Riches

Biography

Caroline Riches is an Associate Professor at McGill University in the Faculty of Education. She serves as the Co-Director of the DISE Program, focusing on Teacher Education. With a Ph.D. in Language Education, obtained in 2001 from McGill University, her academic interests include language teacher professional identity, sociolinguistics as applied to language education, second/additional language acquisition, and professional development for second/additional language teachers. Riches has a Master of Science in Psycholinguistics from the University of Alberta and an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics from the same institution. Her work emphasizes online teaching and learning, and she is recognized for her significant contributions to literacy education and pedagogy leadership. Caroline is deeply invested in advancing human development in educational contexts and maintaining an internationally relevant perspective in her instructional strategies.
