Biography

Carrie Conaway is a Senior Lecturer at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, serving as the Faculty Chair for Learning Assessment. She directs the Teaching and Learning Lab at the Gutman Library, where she focuses on learning, teaching, and assessment. Conaway has played a significant role in higher education, previously co-chairing the Education Policy & Analysis master’s degree program and contributing to HGSE’s foundational Evidence course for master's students. She co-authored 'Common-Sense Evidence: Education Leader’s Guide Using Data Research' along with Nora Gordon. In 2019, she held the position of Chief Strategy Research Officer at the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, where she led the Office of Planning Research. Additionally, Conaway served as president of the Association for Education Finance Policy during the 2018-2019 term. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from Oberlin College and two Master’s degrees, one in Policy Analysis focusing on Labor Policy from the Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota and another in Sociology related to Social Policy from Harvard University.
