Dr. Carrington Motley

Biography

Carrington Motley is an Assistant Professor at Carnegie Mellon University, specializing in Entrepreneurship and Organizational Behavior & Theory at the Tepper School of Business. His research examines how entrepreneurs navigate the challenges of venture creation and manage change amid uncertainty. With firsthand experience in the startup ecosystem, Dr. Motley has worked with four venture-backed startups, including roles as an early employee at Plume Labs and Cobalt Biomedicine. His background combines practical business insights with academic rigor, holding a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a master's from Stanford University, and a Ph.D. in Management Science & Engineering from Stanford, which he completed in early 2023. Dr. Motley is dedicated to enabling entrepreneurs to learn from their failures, leverage past experiences, and create successful ventures in a rapidly changing landscape.
