Cassandra works as the Assistant Director and Senior Lecturer for the Illinois English Language (ESL) Program. Her work focuses on directing teaching support, training, and development for ESL Program Lecturers and TAs while teaching academic writing and oral communication to degree-seeking undergraduate and graduate international students. Her teaching interests and experiences are particularly developed in areas such as instructional design, student success initiatives, educational technology, and inclusive pedagogy. Cassandra has been appointed as a LAS Dean's Fellow in the LAS Academy for Educational Excellence to launch and develop initial programming for a new unit starting January 2025. She is actively working to advance LAS's efforts to redesign the student experience in today’s world while supporting and empowering faculty and instructional staff in teaching. Originally from upstate New York, Cassandra graduated from Marist College with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish, a minor in Latin American and Caribbean Studies, and a concentration in Bilingual Education/ESL. She earned her Master's degree in Teaching English as a Second Language with Distinction and a Graduate Certificate in Specialization in Diversity & Equity Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she continues her work today.
