Dr. Cécile Bullock

Biography

Cécile Bullock is a faculty member at Simon Fraser University in the Faculty of Education, where she works with pre-service and in-service teachers at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She is trained as a French Second/Foreign Language Teacher and has developed foundational educational experiences in plurilingual education. Her scholarship primarily focuses on Plurilingual Education, examining plurilingual practices and attitudes toward multilingualism among families, schools, and communities while addressing relevant issues in teacher training and professional development. Cécile’s research is conducted in both English and French, reflecting her bilingualism. She investigates how the languages that comprise plurilingual repertoires contribute to communicative and social mediation, shaping and giving meaning to individual identities, whether linguistic, cultural, or professional. Her current work emphasizes teacher education and professional learning in plurilingual and multicultural environments, with a particular focus on self-study methodology and the role of reflective practice in developing teachers' theories of practice.
