Biography

Professor Kwon’s research is primarily focused on critical systems thinking, exploring how learning can promote diversity and whole-person inclusion. He investigates leadership organizing principles and how to cultivate safe learning spaces for individuals to collaborate and develop within teams, organizations, and communities. Committed to the practicality of enacting critical ideas in practice, he views emergent learning as a vehicle for inclusive and generative change. Additionally, Professor Kwon studies ableism and the inclusion of people with disabilities in educational and workplace settings. An internationally recognized scholar and advocate for disability inclusion, he has a proven track record of research and policy advising across various countries, including South Korea, Japan, Peru, and Taiwan. Currently, he is conducting a U.S.-based project focused on promoting disability employment within small- to medium-sized manufacturing contexts. In his teaching, Professor Kwon engages students in areas related to diversity, adult learning, leadership, and organization development, fostering adaptive learning mindsets and relationships that encourage inclusive leadership.
