Biography

Charlotte Bunne is an Assistant Professor at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), with affiliations in the School of Computer and Communication Sciences and the School of Life Sciences. Prior to her appointment at EPFL, she completed a PostDoc at Genentech in collaboration with Aviv Regev and Jure Leskovec. She earned her PhD in Computer Science from ETH Zurich, working alongside Andreas Krause and Marco Cuturi. Charlotte has also been a visiting researcher at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, where she worked under the guidance of Anne Carpenter and Shantanu Singh, and collaborated with Stefanie Jegelka at MIT. She is recognized as an AI2050 Early Career Fellow and is a recipient of the ETH Medals. Her research interests include generative AI and its applications in various scientific domains, and she actively supervises PhD students. Charlotte leads courses on foundation models in generative AI, discussing principles, architectures, and methodologies, including multi-modal learning and prompting.
