Biography

Chelsea R. Lide is an Assistant Professor in Work and Organization Studies at MIT Sloan School of Management. Her research broadly explores how employees make sense of their social environment within organizations. A primary focus of Chelsea's research is on second-order prejudice, which refers to the beliefs individuals hold regarding the prejudices of others and their impact on discrimination within organizations. Additionally, her work investigates the phenomenon of prejudice accommodation, offering insights into how individuals may behave in ways that seem contradictory to their own personal attitudes and values. Chelsea's findings have been published in the Academy of Management Journal. Her dissertation, titled 'Second-Order Prejudice: Beliefs Others’ Biases Perpetuate Discrimination in Organizations,' was a runner-up in the 2023 INFORMS/Organization Science Dissertation Proposal Competition. She earned her PhD in Organizational Behavior from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business and holds a BA in Psychology along with a secondary degree in Linguistics from Harvard College. Prior to graduate school, Chelsea worked as a program manager at Google, where she led the global candidate experience program to support the company’s diversity hiring efforts.
