Jackie graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science from York University, Canada in 2006. He bypassed a master's degree and pursued a DPhil in Computer Science, specializing in Software Engineering, at the University of Oxford, where he defended his doctoral thesis on Model-Driven Development of Information Systems in December 2011. After completing his doctorate, Jackie worked as a post-doctoral research fellow at McMaster Centre for Software Certification and the York University Software Engineering Laboratory. His subsequent research focused on an ORF-funded project, collaborating with Ontario Power Generations. Jackie had part-time work as a software engineering technologist in the EECS department at Lassonde from September 2014 to August 2015. He later served as a Research Assistant Professor at SUNY Korea from September 2015 to June 2017, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses. He joined the EECS department at Lassonde in July 2017 as an Assistant Lecturer and was promoted to Associate Professor, Teaching Stream, in July 2022. Jackie is passionate about education and crafts high-quality learning environments for his students. He engages in regular training for tennis and was an active violinist in the University College Oxford orchestra.
