Biography

Jackie graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science with Honours from York University in 2006. After bypassing a master's degree, he pursued a DPhil in Computer Science, specializing in Software Engineering, at the University of Oxford, where he defended his doctoral thesis on 'Model-Driven Development Information Systems' in December 2011. Following his doctorate, Jackie worked as a post-doctoral research fellow at the McMaster Centre for Software Certification and the Software Engineering Laboratory at York University. His research focused on the ORF-funded project, 'Certification of Safety-Critical Software-Intensive Systems,' collaborating with Ontario Power Generation and Systemware Innovation. He has held various teaching roles since 2017 at the Lassonde School of Engineering, where he teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Jackie became an Engineering Licensee in March 2020 and was promoted to Associate Professor in July 2022. He is passionate about creating a quality learning environment for his students and is also dedicated to his personal interests including tennis and music.
