Biography

Annie's research background interests lie in the field of language education. Her MSc Applied Linguistics dissertation focused on multilingual families' language maintenance, taking a sociolinguistic approach, while her MSc Research Linguistics dissertation examined Italian language acquisition in adult learners, situated in psycholinguistics. Her passion for language maintenance led her to pursue a Ph.D. in applied linguistics education, exploring the role of language teachers in heritage language education. Annie has been actively involved in teaching a variety of courses and supervising students at both MSc and Ph.D. levels since joining the University of Edinburgh as a Teaching Fellow in January 2020 and becoming a Lecturer in 2025. She is dedicated to helping students develop critical thinking skills and perform to their full potential. Annie is research-active and aims to continue contributing knowledge to her fields, providing students with research-informed content.
