Biography

Chris Westbury is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Alberta. He was born and raised in Calgary and completed his undergraduate degrees at McGill University, majoring in Philosophy and Psychology, with a minor in Computer Science. He graduated with a PhD in Clinical Psychology from McGill University. His research interests focus on understanding the structure and neurological underpinnings of language processing, particularly with respect to written words. He has a particular interest in semantics, the study of word meaning. In his teaching, he is currently involved in the graduate course 'Professional Ethical Issues' (PSYCO502) and a fourth-year course on psychometrics and measurement of psychological constructs such as IQ and clinical diagnostic categories (PSYCO431).
