Biography

Christina F. Chick is an Instructor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University, focusing on Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and Child Development. Her research examines mechanistic contributions of sleep, cognition, and affect in the onset and course of psychiatric disorders across the lifespan. Dr. Chick is particularly interested in adolescence, a critical period marked by changes in circadian rhythm, sleep architecture, sleep behavior, and neuroendocrine development, as well as psychosocial changes that coincide with the onset of psychiatric disorders. Given that sleep is a highly treatable target, her work aims to increase understanding of the specific contributions that sleep makes to psychiatric symptom onset, thereby facilitating the development of targeted interventions to mitigate the course of illness. She has also received an Honorable Mention from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine for her work as a Trainee Investigator.
