Biography

Christine Stocek is a PhD candidate in the Department of Integrated Studies in Education at McGill University. With over 10 years of experience working and living in Inuit communities in Northern Quebec, she is currently conducting a participatory action research project in the Cree Nation of Wemindji, led by the newly formed Wemindji Traditional Artists Association. Her work is involved with local initiatives and participatory evaluation, particularly within the COOL Challenge program, which focuses on developing in-service training programs for Cree youth workers. Stocek's research interests pivot around pedagogy for art educators and alternative forms of adult education grounded in Freirian principles. A key focus of her work is on improving research collaborations and developing decolonizing partnerships to support self-determination for Aboriginal peoples.
