Biography

Christine Mackay Tircomnicu is a lecturer at the Department of English, Uppsala University, where she has taught the majority of courses available for student teachers in both primary and secondary school programs. She has worked on developing courses and has an MA in Ordinary Degree from the University of Glasgow and an MA in Applied Linguistics from the University of Sussex, along with an RSA Diploma TEFLA from the University of Cambridge. Christine has previously taught at Folkuniversitetet and worked as a language consultant at the Swedish Intellectual Property Office, as well as written and presented on radio programs for the Swedish Educational Broadcasting Company. In recent years, she has organized and taught courses for the Unit of Professional English, part of the Department of English, and has provided language training for employees at Uppsala University, notably as part of an EU collaboration with several African universities. Christine also teaches PhD students and teaching staff. In recognition of her contributions to education, she was awarded the Independent Pedagogical Prize by Uppsala University in 2020 for her work on student feedback and was promoted to Distinguished University Teacher in 2021.
