Dr. Christoforos Mamas

Biography

Christoforos Mamas is an Associate Professor in the Department of Education Studies at the University of California, San Diego. His academic journey began with a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Education from the University of Crete, Greece, followed by a Master of Arts in Special and Inclusive Education from the University of Worcester, UK. He earned his Master of Philosophy in Educational Research and subsequently completed a PhD in Education with a focus on Inclusive Education at the University of Cambridge. His research emphasizes the social inclusion of students with special educational needs within mainstream primary education contexts, particularly in Cyprus. Mamas’s primary research interests involve early childhood studies, inclusive pedagogy, and comparative interdisciplinary studies, examining national and international perspectives on inclusion and disability equality. He has a rich portfolio of publications that includes journal articles and book chapters that employ mixed methods approaches and social network analysis to study peer relationships and social dynamics in educational settings. His commitment extends to transformative research that seeks to influence practice in educational settings, promoting equity and access for all students.
