Biography

Christopher McComb is an Associate Professor at Carnegie Mellon University in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. He also serves as the Director of the Human+AI Design Initiative. Previously, he was an Assistant Professor at Penn State's School of Engineering Design, Technology, and Professional Programs and directed the Center for Research and Design Innovation, leading the Technology and Human Research Engineering Design Group. McComb holds dual B.S. degrees in Civil and Mechanical Engineering from California State University-Fresno and obtained his M.S. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, where he was a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow. His research interests include the design of human social systems, machine learning in engineering design, human-AI collaboration and teamwork, and STEM education, with funding from the NSF, DARPA, and private corporations.
