Biography

Chrysanthe Filippardos is a part-time lecturer in the Department of Classics at Columbia University. With a background rooted in the rich educational traditions of both Greece and the United States, she has taught Modern Greek since 2019. After obtaining her BA in Education from the University of the Aegean, she gained valuable experience working as an assistant in bilingualism education at her alma mater. She subsequently moved to New York, where she earned her MA in Linguistics from the CUNY Graduate Center. In addition to her university role, Filippardos has extensive teaching experience in various educational settings, including elementary schools in Greece and parochial schools in New York, as well as the Hellenic Classical Charter School. Currently, she is also involved in teaching at Long Island City High School in Astoria, NY, and focuses on language acquisition and heritage languages in her academic inquiry.
