Dr. Cinder Zhang

Biography

Cinder Zhang is an award-winning finance professor and curriculum innovator at Purdue University's Mitch Daniels School of Business. As a Clinical Assistant Professor, he applies his interdisciplinary expertise in finance, computer science, and systems design to reinvent how finance professionals learn. He is the creator of the DRIVER Framework—a six-stage methodology that promotes analytical clarity, data fluency, and AI collaboration skills in education. This framework is foundational for the DRIVER textbook series, which integrates Python implementation into large language models directly within the learning process. Before joining Purdue, Zhang was instrumental in developing the Financial Analytics concentration at the University of Arkansas and successfully mentored students to secure positions at leading firms such as Goldman Sachs, State Street, MasterCard, EY, Citi, and Walmart Global Tech. His academic research focuses on bridging theory and practice in AI-enhanced financial modeling and investment education. In his personal time, Zhang enjoys playing basketball, although his teaching schedule has limited his involvement in pick-up games. He remains dedicated to helping students acquire the technical skills and intellectual integrity necessary to excel in a world increasingly influenced by artificial intelligence.
