Dr. Cindy Zhuang

Biography

Cindy (Huaping) Zhuang is a Definite Term Lecturer in Chinese Language and Culture Studies at the University of Waterloo. Her courses include Chinese language courses of various levels, Chinese Culture & Society, Strategic Approaches to Learning East Asian Languages, and Pre-Modern Chinese Literature. With a focus on comparative literature, she integrates the study of Chinese classical literature within the English-speaking world and emphasizes Chinese language pedagogy. Dr. Zhuang has a strong academic background with an MA and PhD in Comparative Literature & World Literature from Zhejiang University and a BA in Teaching Chinese Language from Beijing Foreign Studies University. She has taught at Renison University College, within the University of Waterloo, and has also held positions in China and the USA. Her extensive publication record includes translations and articles on various subjects including the understanding of authors like Robert Frost and the exploration of literary classics. Zhuang has contributed to numerous academic journals and has collaborated in texts that address teaching practices in Chinese language education. Her dedication to promoting Chinese literature and language is evident in her research and course offerings.
