Biography

Claire Alexander is Professor of Sociology at the University of Manchester, where she has been a prominent figure in research focusing on race, ethnicity, and youth migration for over thirty years. She is an active member of the Centre for Dynamics of Ethnicity (CoDE) and has served as the editor of Identities: Global Studies in Culture and Power. Claire's work critically examines racial inequalities in Britain, having collaborated with organizations like the Runnymede Trust to explore educational and cultural disparities faced by minority groups. Her recent monograph, 'The Asian Gang Revisited: Changing Muslim Masculinities', sheds light on evolving identities within the South Asian diaspora.
