Biography

Claire Lucas is a Professor of Engineering Teaching and Learning at King's College London, where she leads research on Engineering Education implementation. She previously served as Director of Studies for General and Biomedical Systems Engineering at the University of Warwick, leveraging her extensive industrial experience as a mathematical modeling specialist at Jaguar Land Rover to manage projects focused on capability improvement through multi-physics modeling. Claire is a fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, as well as a member of the Academic Accreditation Committee at the Institution of Engineering and Technology. In 2019, she received the Women’s Engineering Society Prize at the Institution of Engineering and Technology’s Young Women Engineer of the Year ceremony, where she was acknowledged as one of the top 50 women in engineering for her contributions to Engineering Education. Her research interests encompass Engineering Social Justice, sustainability, ethics, systems thinking, and the design of inclusive curriculum frameworks for assessing competencies in Engineering, including the application of Systems Engineering methodologies in educational contexts. Claire is also a professional reviewer and has engaged in initiatives to bridge gaps between engineering education and industry expectations.
