Biography

Clemencia Rodas Pérez has 28 years of teaching and researching experience in Higher Education. She began teaching Spanish in 2001 at the Language Centre, University of Warwick, and has continued to play a significant role in academic Lifelong Learning (LLL) programmes. In 2012, she was nominated by students and colleagues for the Warwick Award for Teaching Excellence, receiving recognition as a commendee. Clemencia holds a PhD from the Health Sciences Institute at Warwick Medical School, where her research focused on medical communication, specifically analyzing the interaction between geneticists and patients during genetic counselling consultations. Her main areas of consideration include the use of the Spanish language at both specialized and lay levels within clinical encounters, employing a specific Latin American case study. She coordinates LLL Spanish courses at the Language Centre and has taught various Spanish modules, including those for Historians in Years 1 and 2. Currently, she is engaged in a research study related to writing and the cognitive sociocognitive processes involved in text construction. Additionally, Clemencia has been involved in the Virtual Intercultural Immersion Project (VIIP), facilitating virtual bilingual exchanges for Warwick undergraduates with peers in South America for nearly a decade.
