Biography

Coen Teulings is a distinguished professor at Utrecht University, having held this position since January 1, 2018. He has previously served as a part-time professor of Economics at both the University of Cambridge from 2013 to 2017 and the University of Amsterdam from 2004 to 2017. Teulings was the president of the CPB, the Netherlands Bureau for Economic Policy Analysis, where he led evaluations of political party platforms prior to general elections. He held the position of CEO at SEO Economic Research in Amsterdam from 2004 to 2006 and was a professor of Economics at Erasmus University Rotterdam and director of the Tinbergen Institute from 1998 to 2004. He earned a Master’s degree in Economics cum laude from the University of Amsterdam in 1985 and completed his Ph.D. in 1990. Teulings is a member of the independent Council of Economic Advisors to the House of Commons and has chaired various committees aimed at reforming high school economics examinations. His research has been published in renowned journals such as the Journal of Political Economy, Review of Economic Studies, and Econometrica, primarily focusing on labor economics topics including minimum wages, education returns, income inequality, job searches, marriage markets, and city economics.
