Professor Dr. Connie Kvarfordt

Biography

Connie Kvarfordt has 13 years of practice experience mainly in mental health, working with children, adolescents, and adults as a school social worker, juvenile court intake officer, crisis-line supervisor, individual and family therapist, and evaluator for programs related to working with people with disabilities. Her scholarship focuses on increasing knowledge among social work practitioners regarding the ethical integration of the human dimension of spirituality with an emphasis on social justice. Her current research interests include transpersonal theory, Buddhist psychology, and mindfulness-based therapies, and she primarily teaches direct practice courses. Dr. Kvarfordt's teaching methodology involves developing and facilitating experiential and reflective learning activities aimed at enhancing skill acquisition. She has held various administrative and professional service roles, including PhD Program Coordinator and Advisory Board Member for the Child Friendly Faith Project.
