Corey Pompey is an Associate Teaching Professor and Associate Director of Bands at the Mead Witter School of Music at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He was appointed as the Associate Director of Bands in Spring 2019, succeeding longtime director Mike Leckrone. Before this role, he served as an Assistant Professor of Music and Associate Director of Bands/Director of Athletic Bands at the University of Nevada-Reno. Originally from Alabama, he spent seven years teaching in public schools before moving to Texas. Pompey holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Arts degree in Music Education from The University of Alabama, and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Wind Conducting from the University of Texas. His principal conducting teachers include Jerry F. Junkin, Kenneth Ozzello, and Gerald L. Welker. He is affiliated with the College Band Directors National Association and Phi Mu Alpha.
