Biography

Prof. Corinna Dawid holds a professorship in the area of Functional Phytometabolomics at the Technical University of Munich. She specializes in Chemosensory food systems, Food Chemistry, and Molecular Sensory Science. Her research focuses on the screening and identification of bioactive and sensory active natural compounds derived from food plant raw materials, investigating their interactions with human metabolism. Notably, she emphasizes metabolites that are upregulated by abiotic and biotic stress factors in crops. Following her doctorate at the University of Münster, where she studied under Prof. Thomas F. Hofmann, and a subsequent postdoctoral research stay at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, she contributed significantly to establishing the Institute of Molecular Sensory Science. After returning to Munich, she completed her habilitation, focusing on the stress resistance of plants. Since 2019, she has served as Acting Head of the Chair of Food Chemistry and Molecular Sensory Science and has also taken on the role of Deputy Director at the ZIEL Institute for Food & Health.
