Biography

Dan Cui is an Associate Professor in the Department of Child and Youth Studies at Brock University, where he focuses on various aspects of the educational experience of immigrant youth and international students. He obtained his PhD from the Department of Educational Policy Studies at the University of Alberta. Before joining Brock University, he held prestigious fellowships, including the SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of California, Berkeley, and the Eyes High Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Calgary. His research interests include the integration of racialized minority immigrant youth in Canada and the United States, and the immigration and employment transitions faced by international students. He also studies the experiences of Asian Canadians and issues of transnationalism within educational contexts. With a strong commitment to social justice, Cui’s work addresses themes related to race, class, gender, agency, and resilience in educational settings, using qualitative research methodologies to inform his findings.
