Daniel McAllister is an Associate Professor of Management at the National University of Singapore's (NUS) School of Business. His research focuses on interpersonal relationships within organizations and the diverse social emotions that individuals experience during workplace interactions, alongside the implications of agentic behavior. His initial work on trust explored the nature of trust as the trustor's positive expectations regarding the words, actions, and decisions of the trustee, examining the dimensionality of trust, relationship distrust, and the potential dark and bright sides of trust. More recently, his research has delved into workplace social emotions that are highly relevant to ongoing trust dynamics, including feelings of paranoia, anxiety, fear, contempt, and awe as they relate to perceived security in the workplace. His research has been published in leading journals such as the Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, and the Journal of Applied Psychology.
