Biography

Danielle Kinsey focuses on the history of 19th century Britain, particularly in relation to empire, gender history, and global perspectives. She is deeply interested in the transnational connections of commodity chains, illustrating the historical development of globalization and interconnectedness that shaped the modern world. Her current book project investigates the significance of diamonds in the context of the British Empire during the 19th century. Kinsey holds a Bachelor and a Master’s degree from the University of Calgary and completed her PhD at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She is a co-editor-in-chief of H-Material Culture and actively engages in teaching historical thinking and online pedagogy. Kinsey has received multiple awards for her teaching excellence and is involved with various academic associations, including serving on the Council of the Canadian Historical Association.
