Danusha Jayawardana is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Health Economics, Monash Business School. She has broad research interests in economics, child and adolescent development, and mental health. Her work on child development focuses on understanding how children thrive regardless of socioeconomic background and the factors that shape both cognitive and non-cognitive development. She examines the outcomes for children involved in the child protection system, with a particular emphasis on the effects of out-of-home care. Additionally, her research on mental health explores the socioeconomic determinants and economic costs associated with mental health, as well as inequities in access to mental healthcare. Currently, she is the Chief Investigator on the Australian Research Council (ARC) Discovery Project investigating 'Mental healthcare pricing and socioeconomic inequities in access to care'. Danusha obtained her PhD in Economics from the University of Adelaide in 2020, receiving the Dean’s Commendation for Doctoral Thesis Excellence.
