Biography

Daphna Buchsbaum is an Associate Professor in the Department of Cognitive Psychological Sciences at Brown University, where she directs the Computational Cognitive Development Lab and the sister lab, the Brown Dog Lab. Prior to joining Brown University, she was an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto. Her research has received funding from various prestigious organizations including the National Science Foundation and the Canadian Foundation for Innovation. She was awarded the Society for Research in Child Development Early Career Researcher Award in 2021 and was named an Association for Psychological Science Rising Star in 2018. Daphna completed her postdoctoral work as a Senior Research Fellow at the University of St. Andrews and earned her PhD from UC Berkeley's Psychology department. Her master's degree from UC Berkeley was in Statistics, focusing on probability theory and statistical computing, and she also obtained a master's degree from MIT's Media Lab, where she researched social learning with interactive animated characters. Daphna holds an A.B. in Human Biology from Brown University.
