Biography

David Shifrin is an accomplished soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician known for his works with major orchestras in the United States and abroad. He has served as the principal clarinetist for esteemed orchestras, including the Cleveland Orchestra and the American Symphony Orchestra. A graduate of the Juilliard School, Shifrin has held faculty positions at prestigious institutions, including Yale School of Music, where he has been teaching since 1987. He has also held the role of artistic director for several renowned music festivals and series, such as the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and the Oneppo Chamber Music Series at Yale. Shifrin's recordings have received critical acclaim and several Grammy nominations, showcasing his talents in a variety of collaborative and solo performances. Shifrin continues to inspire the next generation of musicians by coaching and teaching graduate-level clarinetists and chamber music ensembles at Yale.
