Biography

Deborah Moriarty is a Professor and Chair of the Keyboard Area at the College of Music at Michigan State University. She is a recipient of the prestigious Distinguished Faculty Award. A Massachusetts native, Moriarty made her debut with the Boston Symphony Orchestra at age 11. She has served on the piano faculty at the New England Conservatory of Music and the University of Lowell. As a founding member of the Fontana Ensemble in Michigan, she is a strong advocate for new music, contributing to the premiere performances of works like Milton Babbitt's 'Whirled Series' at Merkin Hall in New York City. Moriarty serves as the Artistic Director for the annual Encore Festival 'Music Hidden Churches' concert series in Todi, Italy, and is a co-founder of 'Celebrating Spectrum: Festival of Music Life,' which offers master classes and performances for talented pianists on the MSU campus.
