Biography

Debbie joined King’s College London in 2024 as Lead Reader for Faculty Development within the Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine. In this role, she focuses on pipeline development for the educational workforce, aligning King's College London's strategic intention to achieve parity in educational research excellence. Debbie holds a degree from the University of Southampton, an MSc from the University of Portsmouth Business School, and a Doctorate in Education from the University of Nottingham. Additionally, she obtained a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education from the University of Kent and is a Senior Fellow of Advance HE. Her research interests encompass the professionalization of occupations, retention in careers, literacy, and the concept of meaningful work. Prior to her appointment at King's College London, Debbie served as the academic head of the Centre for Professional Practice and as the head of Digital Lifelong Learning at the University of Kent, where she worked with the National Institute for Health Research, the Allied Health Professional Research Careers Support Service, and the Defence Dental Services. She possesses extensive experience in the design, development, delivery, and evaluation of transdisciplinary, collaborative academic provisions for medical, healthcare, dental, and educational science workforces.
