Biography

Deborah Rosenberg is an Associate Professor of Instruction in the Department of Spanish & Portuguese at Northwestern University. She earned her PhD from the University of Chicago in 2004, where her dissertation focused on the representation of conversos in the Spanish picaresque novel. Since arriving at Northwestern in 2005, she has been involved in teaching a range of courses, including first- and second-year Spanish language sequences and writing courses. Deborah has served as the coordinator for Advanced Elementary Spanish and has taken on roles such as the Interim Assistant Director of the Spanish Language Program and Technical Coordinator for first-year Spanish courses. She has a strong interest in curricular design and the role of race and ethnicity in shaping Spanish identity, actively working on the articulation of language instruction from secondary to post-secondary institutions. Deborah has also been a co-chair for the Council of Language Instruction and serves as an advisor in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences.
