Professor Dr. Denise Morstad

Biography

Denise Morstad is an Instructor III in Arts Education and Music Education at the University of Regina. With expertise in music arts education, she is committed to offering high-quality instruction to pre-service teachers, helping them develop the confidence and skills needed to teach music regardless of their artistic background. She designs experiential classes that relate directly to the course focus, enabling students to engage in musical activities, create visual and literary works, and participate in inclusive experiences that enhance their artistic confidence. Morstad emphasizes the importance of nurturing professional relationships with students, encouraging an open and caring environment where they can express doubts and celebrate successes. She has a Master of Education in Curriculum & Instruction from the University of Regina and extensive teaching experience, including roles in diverse educational settings. She continuously evolves her teaching practices in response to curricular trends and student needs, ensuring that her classes are both relevant and effective.
