Biography

Denise L Walbrandt Pigarelli is an Associate Professor at the University of Wisconsin School of Pharmacy with a focus on both clinical and academic research in pharmaceutical care and instructional design. She completed her PharmD in 1993 and a BS in 1991 from the University of Wisconsin. Denise's clinical research interests center on clinical quality of life outcomes and drug therapy, particularly within the context of diabetes, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia. She has extensive experience working as a clinical pharmacist, including a specialty practice residency in ambulatory care at the William S. Middleton Memorial VA Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin, and primary care practice at the Carl T. Hayden VAMC in Phoenix, Arizona. Since joining the School of Pharmacy in 1996, she has been actively involved in teaching various pharmacy courses and is currently a coordinator for multiple courses focused on consumer self-care and advanced pharmaceutical care. Denise also practices at the Madison VA Diabetes Clinic, where she continues to apply her expertise in managing drug therapy for diabetes-related health issues.
