Dr. Desirée Nilsson

Biography

Desirée Nilsson is a Professor at the Department of Peace and Conflict Research, Uppsala University, Sweden. Her research focuses on the dynamics of civil war resolution, including topics such as rebel fragmentation, inclusive peace processes, and peacekeeping operations. She has published in leading journals such as International Organization, British Journal of Political Science, and International Studies Quarterly, making significant contributions to the academic discourse on conflict resolution. Nilsson serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Peace Research and is actively involved in various scholarly committees and boards. She is currently the principal investigator for a Swedish Research Council-funded project examining the role of civil society organizations in peace processes, and she has previously contributed to significant research projects, including the European Union H2020 scheme. Her engagement in academia extends through visiting fellowships at notable institutions, including the Peace Research Institute of Oslo and Stanford University.
