Biography

Diana Carter is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Creative and Critical Studies at the University of British Columbia (UBC). She received her PhD in Spanish Linguistics from the University of Ottawa in 2008. Dr. Carter has held post-doctoral fellowships at the ESRC Centre for Research on Bilingualism at Bangor University in Wales and at the University of Calgary, where she focused on her research interests in bilingualism, triggered code-switching, and language acquisition. She is the Principal Investigator of a research project titled 'Cognates Affect Codeswitching: A Large-scale Study of Welsh-English Bilinguals', collaborating with the ESRC Centre for Research on Bilingualism and the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics in the Netherlands. Her research interests include Spanish, Welsh, bilingualism, code-switching, and language acquisition.
