Biography

Diane Borsato established an international reputation through her social interventionist practices, performance, video, photography, and sculpture. She is an Associate Professor at the University of Guelph and coordinates an interdisciplinary studio area called Experimental Studio. Borsato teaches advanced courses that explore the relationships between art and everyday life, including topics on Food Art and outdoor live art. Her work has been exhibited and performed at notable institutions such as the Art Gallery Ontario, Power Plant, Art Gallery York University, and the Art Museum University of Toronto, as well as galleries and museums across France, Germany, Mexico, Taiwan, and Japan. She has received the Victor Martyn-Lynch Staunton Award from the Canada Council for the Arts and has been nominated twice for the Sobey Prize. Her projects focus on exploring social and experiential modes of learning and she has worked closely with practitioners, artists, dancers, and amateur naturalists.
