Biography

Dr. Donghoon Lee is a Tier-2 Canada Research Chair in Climate Resilient Water Food Security and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Manitoba. He joined the University of Manitoba in 2024 after completing postdoctoral research in the Climate Hazards Center at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. His research focuses on advancing data-driven understanding of hydroclimate variability impacts on society. Dr. Lee's group develops computational statistical approaches to forecast extreme hydroclimate events and quantify risks to water, food, and energy systems. They integrate climate information with environmental and socioeconomic data to support resilience and sustainable decision-making in a changing climate. He is actively recruiting motivated students and postdoctoral researchers from diverse backgrounds for current opportunities in his lab.
