Biography

Flutist Donna Shin is renowned for her beautifully-spun phrases, seductive sound, and sterling technique. She has built an enviable reputation as a versatile performer across solo, chamber, orchestra, and jazz genres, as well as ancient Asian repertoire. Shin has performed in concert halls throughout the Americas, Europe, and Asia and is known for her adventurous programming and expressive flair. Shin has been featured as a solo performer with renowned orchestras including the North Korean National Symphony Orchestra and Seattle Symphony Orchestra. She has also had a vibrant career performing with numerous ensembles and has garnered prizes from prestigious competitions. Shin has introduced new music programs to various communities, including rural areas and international settings. Her educational background includes degrees with highest honors from Interlochen Arts Academy, Eastman School of Music, and the New England Conservatory, where she earned a Performer’s Certificate. She is committed to mentoring young artists and has been recognized for her excellence in teaching.
