Biography

Dora Demszky is an Assistant Professor in the Graduate School of Education at Stanford University. Her research focuses on developing natural language processing methods to support equitable, student-centered instruction. She has worked on creating tools that provide feedback to teachers on dialogic instructional practices, examine representation in textbooks, and measure the presence of dialect features in text. Demszky received her PhD in Linguistics from Stanford University, under the supervision of Dr. Dan Jurafsky. Prior to her PhD, she earned a BA summa cum laude in Linguistics with a minor in Computer Science from Princeton University.
