Biography

Dori Coblentz is a Lecturer in Technical Communication at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where she teaches first-year composition and technical communication classes. Her research interests include early modern English drama and digital pedagogy, with a focus on how practical knowledge was transmitted in the early modern period. Her monograph, 'Fencing, Form and Cognition on the Early Modern Stage: Artful Devices' (Edinburgh 2021), examines the intersection of performance and knowledge during this time. In her role, she co-facilitates the Technical Communications Seminar for Brittain Fellows. Dori is also committed to adult education and serves as a fencing instructor, holding a Master of Arms certification from Sonoma State University. She spends her free time coaching rapier and saber classes at the Atlanta Historical Fencing Academy and contributes to the development of curriculum for historical fencing instructors. Her pedagogical approach to fencing is detailed in the co-authored manual, 'Fundamentals of Italian Rapier: A Modern Manual for Teachers and Students of Historical Fencing' (2018).
