Edith Desiree de Leeuw is a Professor of Survey Methodology at Utrecht University. She has received the Monroe G. Sirken Award for interdisciplinary survey research methods from AAPOR/AMSTAT and WAPOR's Helen Dinerman Prize for lifetime contributions to the field of public opinion. Additionally, she was awarded the ESRA Award for outstanding services in survey research. A Fulbright Scholar, she participated in the Don Dillman Visiting Scholar Program at Washington State University, and also served as a visiting scholar in Social Statistics at UCLA. Edith is a fellow at the Interuniversities Joint Institute of Psychometrics and Sociometrics (IOPS) in the Netherlands and has been granted a Visiting International Fellowship at the Institute of Social Research at the University of Surrey. With 150 scholarly publications, she has co-edited five internationally recognized books on survey methodology, covering topics such as Experimental Methods in Survey Research, Total Survey Error in Practice, and Advances in Telephone Survey Methodology. Her recent research interests include nonresponse, survey attitudes, survey climate, mixed-mode studies, and comparative cross-national research. Currently, she serves as Associate Editor for the Journal of Official Statistics and is part of several editorial boards in the field of survey methodology.
