Biography

Elaine Frankel is a Professor Emerita in Early Childhood Studies at Toronto Metropolitan University. She completed her undergraduate studies with a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Relationships at Cornell University. She furthered her education at the University of Toronto, where she obtained both a Master of Education and a Doctorate in Education. Over her career, Frankel has focused on early childhood intervention, inclusive education, and systemic change processes. She has a strong belief in the benefits of lifelong learning and personal change, which is evident in her teaching roles in Head Start preschools, kindergartens, and primary grades. As a researcher, she has presented internationally at numerous conferences and professional learning seminars, concentrating on early intervention and inclusive education. Frankel has served as the coordinator of the Interpersonal Skills Teaching Centre and held several leadership positions within her faculty, including teaching chair for the Faculty of Community Services. Her research projects include roles as Principal Investigator and Co-investigator on various funded initiatives aimed at promoting social inclusion for children with developmental disabilities. She has been recognized with several awards, including the Provost’s Teaching Award for Experiential Learning and multiple Faculty Conference Poster Awards.
