After completing undergraduate Master’s degrees in Vienna including a year at New York University, Elisabeth Giselbrecht earned her PhD from the University of Cambridge in 2012. She held a post-doc position at the University of Salzburg as part of a research project focused on music printing in German-speaking lands. In January 2015, Elisabeth began her Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship at King’s College London with a project titled 'Owners and Users of Early Music Books.' She has taught undergraduate courses at various institutions, focusing on music sources from the early modern period, and has supervised a range of courses from Machaut to 20th-century music. Her research interests include Renaissance music, music printing, manuscript cultures, material culture of texts, and the production and reception of music in the 16th and 17th centuries. Elisabeth's PhD thesis explored the cultural implications of printed dissemination of Italian sacred music in German-speaking areas, and her ongoing research investigates the contexts of how early modern readers interacted with music books.
